Meet the Family: Linda

Happy Meet the Family Friday! In honor of Independence Day weekend, join us in celebrating Linda, the newest United States citizen in the Upward Scholars family! 🇺🇸

Linda is a Guatemalan immigrant and student at Cañada College. In 2021, she earned an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education and is now pursuing a degree in Communications. Linda has benefitted greatly from our financial support (textbooks, parking permits, grocery gift cards) and, most importantly, holistic support. "Upward Scholars helped me keep going during some of the hardest days of my life...and with their support, I can now say I realized another one of my life dreams—to become a U.S. citizen!"

While Linda is excited to be a citizen, she understands the great responsibility she now has. "I will never forget my roots and community. I will use my voice to vote and support other immigrants like me," she says.
