Jessica Magallón-Gálvez
Marketing & Development Manager

Growing up in the agricultural Eastern Coachella Valley in Southern California to Mexican immigrants, Ms. Magallón-Gálvez was made aware of the poverty cycle surrounding immigrant communities from a very early age. As a child, her mother often emphasized the importance of education as a means for a better life, so she did her best to honor the sacrifices of her family and her entire community. In 2019, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Iberian and Latin American Cultures with Distinction, and in 2020, she graduated with a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies, both from Stanford University. This incredible achievement made Jessica the first in her family to attend and graduate from a four-year university and the first to earn a graduate degree. After a lifetime dedicated to her education, she is beyond excited to give back to the immigrant community in the Bay Area in a significant and tangible way with Upward Scholars.
