Jeannie Karl
As an immigrant herself, Ms. Karl fervently believes in the power of education as a means for economic upward mobility, especially for immigrants. She came from South Korea to study Biology, earning her Ph.D. in Biology from Duke University, then went on to earn her J.D. from Columbia University. She is a Senior Director in the pharma partnering group at Genentech, Inc., and is grateful every day to be a part of an organization that works to save lives by developing drugs that treat cancer and other devastating and life-altering diseases. As a seasoned business negotiator and a lawyer, Ms. Karl hopes to give back to her beloved Redwood City and beyond, and meaningfully and positively impact those immigrant adults who are so motivated to improve their lives and those of their loved ones. At Upward Scholars, she serves on the Board Governance Committee.
