Gerardo García Palacios
Spiritual and Emotional Counselor

Reverend Gerardo García Palacios has a B.A. in Theology and Biblical Studies from the Seminary of the Latin American College of Theological Studies in Florida. In June 2018, he received his Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. Rev. Gerardo is fully bilingual and bicultural, skills that helped him work as Director of Campus Operations at Fuller Theological Seminary Extension in Menlo Park.

In July of 2020, Rev. Gerardo was ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament by the San Francisco Presbytery. The same year, he completed his one-year chaplaincy residency program, followed by another year of fellowship at Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto in post-pandemic care for the Latinx community. He provided spiritual and pastoral care to patients and medical staff at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Currently, Rev. García Palacios provides spiritual and pastoral care to Upward Scholars students seeking these services. Rev. Gerardo is an adjunct professor at ELET (Latin American School of Theological Studies) theological seminary in El Cerrito. Finally, “Pastor G”, as his congregation calls him, is the Director of children, youth, and families ministries at the United Methodist Church in Palo Alto.
