Alma Noriega
Programs Coordinator

Ms. Noriega immigrated to the U.S. from Mexico with her family to pursue better opportunities. She quickly realized that to be successful in this endeavor and integrate into American society and the job market, she would have to learn English and pursue higher education. Alma began her academic journey at Skyline College in 2018 and joined Upward Scholars the same year. She is pursuing a degree in Spanish at Skyline College and plans to be a Spanish teacher in the future.

This journey has reinforced her belief that regardless of age, gender, or social background, immigrants have the potential to achieve their dreams through education. As Programs Coordinator, Alma is committed to motivating the immigrant community to recognize that they can transcend their circumstances and realize their aspirations with education, determination, and support from Upward Scholars.
